School, college, university and online academy websites

Education and School Website Design Services

Devoq Design builds education websites that help families and students decide: school and college sites with clear programs and admissions steps, university sites that organize hundreds of pages, and online academies with course pages that convert. Accessible, fast on a phone and simple for your staff to keep current.
Education Website Design

Education website design that makes choosing and applying feel simple

An education website carries several jobs at once: it persuades prospective families, informs current ones, supports staff and meets accessibility duties. Most fall short in familiar ways. A parent comparing three schools on a phone after work finds a menu built around internal departments and cannot locate the fees. A prospective student opens a program page that hides dates and entry requirements in a PDF, and moves on to a university that answers in plain text. An applicant starts a long form, loses connection on the bus and returns to find it timed out and empty. An admissions officer asks for a change to the open day page and waits a week for a developer. We organize the site around the questions people actually ask: what can I study, what does it cost, when do I apply, how do I get help. Pages are short, scannable and honest, wireframed and tested with families before visual design, and forms save progress and forgive mistakes. The editing experience is designed so a busy office team can publish without breaking the layout, whether the site runs on WordPress, Drupal, a headless CMS or Webflow. The course site we designed for BTC University is an example of program pages built to be chosen from.

Features/Why Choose Us

Entry requirements, costs, dates, outcomes and next steps placed in a consistent order so applicants can compare options without calling. A good program page can be scanned in a minute on a phone; a bad one sends the reader to a PDF, a separate fees page and a phone number, and the inquiry never arrives.
Designed to WCAG 2.2 AA, with captions, readable type and keyboard support, relevant to the ADA Title II web rule in the US and the European Accessibility Act. Navigation, forms, calendars and document libraries are the places education sites most often fail, so those templates are tested with screen readers and keyboard only.
Templates and component libraries that let office teams publish news, events and program updates without a developer. Each block carries rules for images, headings and length, so a page built by a department secretary in a hurry still looks like the institution and still works on a phone.
Privacy notices, FERPA and GDPR contact points and any AI tool policy presented in plain language where families look for them. HEPI and Kortext found UK student generative AI use rose from 66% to 92% in 2025, so a clear AI policy page is now part of what prospective students and parents check.

Approach Section

Our Approach to Education Website Design

Discovery and Research

01

We interview staff, current families and prospective students, and review analytics, search terms and admissions data to learn where visitors give up. We also sit with the people who publish on the site, because the editing experience decides whether the structure survives.

Information Architecture and Wireframes

02

Card sorting and tree testing to build a navigation people understand, then wireframes for the key templates. Program, fees, admissions and contact pages are wireframed first, since those carry most visits and nearly all of the decisions.

UI Design

03

A visual system that reflects your identity, with accessible color, readable type and flexible components for varied content. Components are designed with real content, including the long program title and the policy page with forty headings.

Usability Testing

04

Parents and applicants find a program, check fees and start an inquiry while we watch for confusion. We test on phones and on the school network, and we include users who rely on assistive technology before anything is signed off.

Handoff and Optimization

05

CMS-ready templates and documentation, then improvements driven by admissions funnel and search data. Whether your team builds in-house or with a Webflow developer or a WordPress team, templates are handed over as reusable blocks with editor guidance.

Why Devoq Design?

We make the collaboration of people and interface more intensive and exciting.
element 01

Audience-First Navigation

Menus built for prospective families, current students and staff rather than for the org chart. The structure comes from card sorting with real visitors, not from a departmental meeting.

Admissions-Focused

Inquiry and application paths designed and tested as carefully as the homepage. Forms show requirements first, save progress and work on a phone, because that is where most families apply.

CMS-Ready Templates

Reusable blocks for WordPress, Drupal, Webflow or the platform your institution already runs. Each block is documented for editors, so publishing a news item or a program update never needs a developer.

Fast on Any Device

Pages planned for modest phones and school networks, with images and video handled sensibly. Hero video is optional and never blocks the content a parent came for.

Policy-Ready Content

Safeguarding, privacy, accessibility and AI statements designed as real pages with clear structure. Families and inspectors can find and read them without downloading a document.

AI Speed, Senior Review

AI drafts about 5x faster, with senior review of every page. AI gives our team a quick first draft of layouts and research, and senior designers sign off on every page you receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does education website design include?
Research, information architecture, wireframes, visual design, program and admissions templates, accessibility checks to WCAG 2.2 AA, CMS-ready handoff and guidance for your content team. Depending on scope it can include content migration planning and the editing templates for news, events and policies, so the whole site, not only the public pages, is designed to be maintained.
Which platforms do you design for?
We design platform-independent and hand off for WordPress, Drupal, Webflow, Next.js or your institution’s existing CMS, building templates as reusable blocks for non-technical editors. If you are choosing a platform, we lay out the trade-offs for a multi-department site, including permissions, workflow and how each handles hundreds of pages, before you commit.
Can you redesign our existing school or university website?
Yes. We audit navigation, analytics and admissions funnels, keep the content that works, and restructure the sections that lose visitors, typically program pages, fees and the application path. The restructure ships in stages, usually admissions first, so the site keeps working through the academic year and departments are not asked to migrate everything at once.
How much does education website design cost?
It depends on the number of templates, the size of the content migration, how many departments and audiences the structure serves, and whether we design admissions flows. After a short discovery call we quote a fixed price for a defined scope, or a monthly retainer for institutions that add programs and campaigns every term. Each part of the scope is itemized.
How long does an education website take?
Timeline is driven by the number of templates and departments, the size of the content migration, how many systems we integrate for admissions, calendars and sign-in, and whether research and usability testing are included. A single-school site on an existing CMS is quick; a multi-faculty university with a new content model takes longer. We plan around term starts and admissions deadlines.
How should a school site talk about AI use?
Plainly. In the UK, HEPI and Kortext found student generative AI use rose from 66% to 92% in 2025, so we design a clear page for your AI policy: what is allowed, what is not and who to ask. We place it where students and parents look, alongside safeguarding and privacy, and write it at a reading level a student can follow.
Will the site meet accessibility requirements?
We design to WCAG 2.2 AA. Public US institutions are subject to the ADA Title II web rule with WCAG 2.1 AA, with deadlines in April 2027 and April 2028, and we leave margin above that standard. Forms, calendars, document libraries and navigation are tested with screen readers and keyboard only, because those are where education sites most often fail.
Can you handle sites for under-13 audiences?
Yes. We limit data collection, keep forms and tracking minimal, and design consent steps with COPPA in mind, with the Australian Privacy Act and UK GDPR covered for institutions in those countries. Student-facing pages get simpler language and larger targets. Your counsel should confirm the final setup for your situation, and we do not provide legal advice.
