What do Shopify migration services include?

Will we lose SEO rankings when we migrate to Shopify?

Shopify uses fixed URL patterns for products, collections and pages, so most addresses change. That is why we crawl the old store, map every URL to its new one, set permanent redirects, carry over titles, descriptions and structured data, and test the redirects before and after launch. Search Console is watched in the following weeks.

Can customer accounts and passwords be migrated to Shopify?

Customer records, addresses and order history can be migrated. Passwords cannot, because the old platform stores them in a one-way hashed form. Customers either receive an account activation email or sign in with a one-time code sent by email, depending on how accounts are set up in Shopify. We plan that message as part of the launch.

How long does a Shopify migration take?

It depends on the size of the catalogue, the amount of order history, the number of integrations and custom features, and whether the storefront is being redesigned. After an audit we give a phased plan and agree a launch date that avoids your busiest trading periods.

Should we move to Shopify or Shopify Plus?

Standard Shopify plans suit most stores. Shopify Plus is worth considering for high order volumes, complex B2B or wholesale needs, several storefronts or deeper checkout customisation. We look at your requirements during the audit and recommend the plan that fits, without pushing the larger one.
